OV-Gel

OV-Gel is an optically clear fluid of high static viscosity, formulated from a dilute solution of a non-proteinaceous high molecular weightsynthetic carbohydrate polymer. OV-GEL integrates this synthetic polymer with a solution of metabolically critical salts and buffers that mimicthe characteristics of the human aqueous, including osmolality, ionic strength, and pH. The product is intended to serve as a space-occupying, tissue protective fluid and lubricant for use during ophthalmicsurgery.

OV-GEL is supplied in a syringe with a volume of 1.5 ml. It is sold in boxes of six syringes (a six pack).
